Project Web Sites: A Good Example

Project Web Sites are an excellent way to keep in touch with stakeholders (although not a replacement for regular direct communication), and absolutely critical on virtual projects.

The website for the Hoover Dam Bypass project is a good model to follow. It offers the following links along the top, which represents a good guideline for topics to include on any project website:

  • What's New (good for relevant news updates)
  • Purpose and Overview (important for all team members)
  • Project History (especially useful for new team members)
  • Links and Key Players
  • Informational Material
  • Bidders (this won't apply to all projects, but perhaps a section on related vendors might be appropriate)
  • FAQs (this is a great place to answer those nagging questions that people asked and even those you suspect they will ask)
  • Design Activities
  • Schedule (notice it's from a high level - easily understood)
  • Project Funding

Check out the link below to see the site.
