Software Project Approach; Evolutionary VS. Big-Bang Delivery

It's been a debate for some time now. Should software projects follow an evolutionary approach (i.e. rolling wave, time-boxed, agile, etc.) or a traditional waterfall, big-bang approach.

I can say that modern thinking is that the evolutionary approach is best. But it's not without its own problems.

If you're looking for a book that compares each and makes this case soundly, check out Software Projects: Evolutionary vs. Big-Bang Delivery, by Felix Redmill. It not only examines each approach, but offers solutions to the problems inherent in evolutionary delivery.

It's pricey at $130, but used copied are available on Amazon for $52. If you need to make a case or are looking to better understand evolutionary methods, it may be worth it.
