Healthcare Fiasco: US Government Bans Checklists

I was flabbergasted by a blog entry I read on Tom Peters' website. Even though a simple checklist was proven to GREATLY reduce ICU deaths (I've always loved the power of simple checklists), The Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) is putting a stop to efforts to expand its use in the US.

Allegedly, their rationale is that they considered it as "research" which requires patient awareness programs, metrics, and all sorts of other bureaucracy normally associated with experimental medications.

It's just the sort of "one size fits all" thinking I've spent the last year passionately writing about how to avoid. For a prime example of black and white thinking at work, read on...

Thanks toTom Peters for bringing this to people's attention and raising awareness about this.
