Virtual is Green

Managing a project virtually? Team dispersed globally? Travelling less? Team wearing pajamas and fuzzy slippers, yet project remains on-schedule? Using collaborative tools, such as team workspaces, teleconferences, virtual whiteboards, instant messaging, web seminars, etc.? You are enabling sustainability in your enterprise. Do this across your project portfolio and there is a tangible payback. ...

I agree that it is "green" to reduce travel and so forth by using online collaborative technologies, such as Lotus Domino. This is a great case where the thing to do for business from a cost and efficiency standpoint is exactly the same thing that is good for the environment!

I am a great fan of Lotus Domino, and was a developer or project manager for many great projects using Lotus Domino for years. But there also are other collaborative technologies out these, many of which take substantially less infrastructure. But, Domino is a "beauty"!

Thanks, John. It's nice when sustainability and profitability align.

I've heard that lotus is pretty good, but like John said there is a lot of other PM web-based collaborative tools, like ActionThis.com and Project123. they're pretty great too.

But yes quite like your concept of a fluffy slippers and pyjama clad project team revolutionising PM software for a greener world!
