Interesting. Doubly so, because in this week's episode of The Project Management Podcast I discuss very similar ideas with Wayne Turmel from the Cranky Middle Manager Show.

He argues that the role of our boss is to have a much higher level view of what's going on in our organization. And therefore, our boss is able to see things coming in the distance that we won't see if we are down in the project management trenches. This is the primary area where our boss adds value to our projects.

And the article that you reference gives a great overview of all the factors that higher management need to consider before and during the time when we manager our projects.
