PMI New Media Council Launched

In an effort to better understand emerging trends, and connect to those who get their project management information from the Internet, PMI has just launched the PMI New Media Council. I'm also pleased to add that I've been asked to be part of this council, along with seven other "influential voices," as PMI calls us.

While our council will serve as a community voice to enlighten PMI as to industry needs and trends, the reverse is also true. We'll be kept up to date with issues important to PMI and can thus share them with all of you.

In addition to yours truly representing PMThink, the other members are:

I couldn't be in better company, as I have a deep respect for everyone on the council---all of them true thought leaders in the field. It's also wonderful that PMI is embracing the social networking and blogging scene as a way to strengthen their bond with the project management community and avoid the "Ivory Tower" syndrome.

Also, Elizabeth Harrin of "A Girl's Guide to Project Management" recorded a delightful video diary of her trip to the PMI North American Global Congress in Denver, with some footage of the New Media Council (which sadly I was not able to attend in person, although participated virtually). It's just like watching the Academy Awards pre-show, only more entertaining.
