Take Business Risk During Downturn

Cisco leaders discuss their financial performance and the strategy going forward. They will align on key strategies, shift resources, and take on some business risk. The company uses governing councils to prioritize accordingly. ...

... "Aggressive in strategy. Prioritize and Execute. Fourth, we will also be bold in taking good business risk during this downturn to build on market transitions, opportunities, and put our many assets to use in existing and new markets as the recovery occurs. Frank,

I became a self employed PMO Consultant and PM Trainer in April of this year, just soon enough before the news anchors began telling us that things are "looking bad". The way things are today I probably wouldn't be taking this leap. (Strangely enough, however, the "bad" economy has not yet arrived on my own doorstep and sales are consistent.)

Even after this short time of going at it on my own, I see myself having the mindset as Cisco: I can see opportunity in this down turning economy when others are fearful. Over the past 3 months I have been working on 3 new products in my lineup. I feel that now is the time time that I can help the PM community at large with training products that give them skills to differentiate themselves in the market today.

So as a small business owner I continue to make bold decisions and take decisive actions in order to move my own company forward. I recommend that every project manager and project leader out there takes the same attitude and pushes their company to the next level. Now is the time.

PS. The first "product" that I launched this week is a free reference website called PM Opinions. Here you can read & write reviews on PM products and services and make an informed buying decision. The reviews are from PMs like yourself. It's the PM community helping themselves by sharing their knowledge about these products and services.
