Needs Intelligence: Are Your Needs Being Met

When it comes to emotions at work, would you rather they be part of the problem or part of the solution? Well, Charles Jones, a friend and colleague from the Creating WE Institute, has found a way to make our emotions --- both positive and negative --- work for us instead of against us.

As founder of the Needs-Intelligence Institute, his pioneering research has been turning heads in the field of psychology regarding how we understand emotions and needs---taking self-actualization to a whole new level.

At the core of his message is the idea that, rather than view emotions as rooted to events, as follows:

EVENT → EMOTION → RESPONSE to the Event

We should instead consider emotions as arising to meet an unspoken need:

NEED → EMOTION → ATTENTION to the Need

Addressing the need leaves us feeling empowered, and not a victim of our emotions.
